In January 2016, Gerald H. Werfel joined Baker, Cronogue, Tolle & Werfel, LLP as an equity partner. Mr. Werfel’s extensive government experience has primarily focused on procurement law issues, addressing matters such as bid protests and debarment and suspension. Since beginning his private practice in 1989, he has concentrated on government contracting, offering a comprehensive range of legal advice for contractors in various aspects of this complex field. He has represented clients of all sizes in disputes with the government over contracts, assisting government contractors in establishing internal controls and systems to prevent legal issues. Additionally, Mr. Werfel has conducted numerous internal investigations to ascertain the facts surrounding specific problems or alleged misconduct. His extensive involvement in hundreds of disputes regarding business qualifications for size and set-aside contracts, along with his expertise in navigating government investigations and audits, has proven invaluable to his clients. His background in suspensions and debarments while serving in government has further equipped him to help contractors mitigate the severe consequences associated with these critical challenges. First admitted to the Bar in 1975, Mr. Werfel holds admission in the Bars of Virginia and the District of Columbia. He is also the co-author of the Lawyer’s Desk Book on White Collar Crime, published by the National Legal Center for the Public Interest in 1991, along with several other publications.
